Sun in my eyes
With the sun in my eyes,
the golden hue on my skin,
I wonder how it is we became afraid of the sun.
‘It will burn you’ they say
‘It will kill you’ they plead.
When did we become so ignorant?
The sun means to shine.
The sun has been recorded as prana, life force energy, life itself
Why would we shy away from life itself?
Yes too much sun at the peak of a summers day can burn,
But you can have too much of many things that are good for you.
You can sleep for 12 hours and feel exhausted from too much sleep.
You can eat a hundred strawberries and feel sick from too many of nature’s sweets.
You can drown from drinking too much water.
You can over-do and under-do almost everything.
Does that mean sleep is now bad?
Does that mean water is bad? Strawberries are to be avoided?
Obviously not.
Everything in moderation holds true for everything.
Morning and evening sun is told to be healing for the eyes, for our sleep, for our hearts and spirit.
The warmth of the sun on the skin is nourishing for your body and your immunity.
Yes too much sun will burn.
But too much of anything will harm in some way.
It shouldn’t make us run from the sun.
That’s like running from drinking water for the fear that it may drown you.
You know what’s ironic about all of this?
Alcohol is a known poison
and yet, very few people turn away from it.
Turn your face towards the sun,
for he is your father, father to all of life.
Don’t turn away from life.
