The ingredient list reader

I have become an ingredient list reader.

The type of person who reads the back of every single item in a store.

Ingredient lists are written in a form of code. You have to understand the code in order to understand the meaning of the list.

Unfortunately, they don’t teach you how to understand this ‘code’ in school. You have to learn how to do it yourself.

The code is pretty complicated. Random numbers are used instead of actual ingredients (it seems to me that numbers are usually on the list instead of an ingredient if there’s some shame in that ingredient being present). You have to understand and know a lot of different ingredients. Not only food related ingredients, you have to have all kinds of knowledge about ingredients that shouldn’t be anywhere near your food.

I don’t only read labels in grocery stores. I also read labels when buying candles, soaps, creams, cleansers, incense, essential oils, underwear, socks, pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, hats, scarves, beanies, shoes, bags, blankets, bedding, and pretty much all the rest.

I have to. If you don’t read labels, you end up with a drawer full of clothes made of plastic, blankets of plastic, food made with disease causing chemicals, plastic toothbrushes, toxic toothpaste and skin damaging creams. It is a whole THING.

My trust in most companies in the world is completely broken.

I can’t buy any product until I’ve seen the label because I know very well by now that I can’t trust you (speaking to any companies that may have come across this blog post).

So I gotta read the ingredient list. More than read it, I have to DECIPHER the code they use because they are too ashamed of the list to just write the ingredients out as they actually are.

I encourage everyone to officially become an ingredient list reader.

For the safety of your own health, the wellbeing of your body and your loved ones, for the sake of our beautiful home PLANET EARTH (whom we continue to abuse) - become an ingredient list reader and choose only products, food, items etc that have been made by loving, caring hands.

Being an ingredient reader is a great way to take some control back.

You get to choose what goes in, on and around your body and no CODE is allowed to take away that right.

Read the labels.

with love,
